Refilling your Electronic Cigarette is a pretty painless and straight forward procedure. If you’re refilling your e-cigarette for the first time, or even if you’ve been doing it for a while, the tips below will help make sure you refill your E-Cigarette in the correctly helping you avoid damaging your device or making a mess with your e-liquid.
We’ll be refilling the tank which is screwed into your battery, the correct name for this compartment is the clearomiser, so the first thing you’ll need to do is separate the clearomiser from the battery by unscrewing it. After doing this you’ll also want to unscrew the mouth piece from the clearomiser as this is where we’ll be dispensing the replacement e-liquid into.
Once you’ve unscrewed the various parts above, tilt the tank slightly and point the nozzle of the e-liquid bottle against the inside of the clearomiser, up against the clear casing and start to dispense the e-liquid into the tank. Be careful not to dispense too quickly to prevent overflow. While refilling it’s important to make sure you do not pour any e-liquid into the centre air tube in the clearomiser. Getting liquid down the centre air tube could flood the heating coils and cause problems with the device leaking liquid or not producing vapour.
Take care not to fill past the top marking (if your clearomiser has marking indicators) as filling past this mark could cause the liquid to flood into the centre tube as well as leak out of the tank, especially when you screw the mouth piece back in.
E-Liquid bottles with a finer tip are usually easier to refill with, but don’t worry if yours doesn’t have one, if you follow the procedure above you’ll be able to refill your tank without causing problems to the device.
If you’re filling into a new clearomiser then let the e-liquid settle by standing it up for a few minutes, after which very gently swirl the liquid around the tank for about half a minute. This allows the wick to absorb the e-liquid preventing a burnt taste which is common when vaping from a new clearomiser.
When you start vaping from the refilled clearomiser you’ll know if you overfilled the tank if you hear a bubbling or gurgling sound, or the liquid may even start to leak. If this occurs then remove the clearomiser from the battery and gently blow through the mouth piece.
Clearomisers can either be bottom or top coil clearomisers. Bottom clearomisers are filled from the bottom while top are naturally filled from the top. The procedure for refilling described above applies to both with the only the orientation of the tank changing depending on the type your device uses.
