E-Cigarettes to Be Banned on All US Flights

It’s been three decades since anyone was able to smoke a cigarette on a flight in the US. However, while vapers have used their e-cigarettes on US flights in recent times, it always looked as though this would be a temporary thing.

Now it would appear that’s just the case. While some airlines have already banned the use of electronic cigarettes, the Transportation Department in the US has just announced a proper ban on e-cigarettes on board planes. The ban relates to the use of e-cigs on internal flights, as well as those going out of or coming into the country.

There was already a rule in place that prevented vapers from checking vaping devices into their luggage. This stemmed from a worry that one of them could ignite a fire. Now no passenger will be allowed to use a vaping device on board a plane anywhere in the US.

This will probably come as welcome news for some – but obviously not for vapers. A comment made by Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx pointed out that other passengers will no longer experience “unwanted exposure” to the fumes caused by using an electronic cigarette.

No doubt some vapers will be annoyed by the new rule, but it is really just the next step to banning vaping in many enclosed and/or public spaces. We’re seeing this more and more now, and it shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Before vaping existed, smokers simply had to wait through the duration of their flight, and wait until they were clear of the airport to have a puff. Now it seems vapers will be in the same position.

We reckon it won’t be long before all airlines and countries ban vaping on board their planes. Do you agree?
